Paul Masvidal

A renowned composer, songwriter, session musician and international touring artist, Paul Masvidal is best known for his work as the creative force behind acclaimed progressive rock band Cynic, whose prolific body of work has influenced a generation of musicians. An early guitar teacher spurred Masvidal’s love of Eastern philosophy, leading him to become an initiate to Kriya Yoga in his late teens and a Buddhist practitioner since 2000. He has worked as a hospice volunteer since 1994, assisting the terminally ill. In Hollywood, Masvidal can be heard on everything from “Smallville” to “American Idol” to “Operation Junkyard,” the Emmy-nominated Discovery Kids series, for which he composed the main title. Most recently, Masvidal collaborated with composer Paul Hepker on hit reality shows “Deadliest Catch” and “Ice Road Truckers.”
