Sonic Transformation – Earth Harp Performance
The Earth Harp is an instrument of inspiration and transformation. This grand installation literally transforms a theater, a building, a mountain into a visually and musically stunning musical instrument, and in and of itself, awakens within each person the recognition of what is possible. Combining Onyay’s celestial vocals and cathedralesque violin with Andrea’s graceful artistry and haunting melodies on the Earth Harp, they embark with audiences on a sacred sonic journey. The music invokes an internal awareness of our inner feelings and voice, bringing them to the surface into consciousness, where we are able to see beyond the limitations of what we have accepted, of what has been done before. Here we celebrate self-awareness, love and truth, and are inspired to believe in our own capacity to be all that we are, to live from our true essence and to realize that those sparks of imagination and creativity within us are the gifts that we have to offer to the world.
Andrea Brook is an international performing artist and yoga teacher. She has toured internationally with the Earth Harp since 2001, transforming theaters, architecture and natural environments into large-scale musical instruments and musical landscapes, including the Temple at Burning Man, the Coliseum in Rome, the Space Needle in Seattle, the Grand Theater in Shanghai, a 9th Century castle in Italy and most recently La Parroquia, the beautiful cathedral in the center square of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
Andrea has been teaching yoga since 1998 and has led workshops and retreats around the world including the Omega Institute, the TED Conference, and festivals including Wanderlust, Burning Man, Lightning in a Bottle and the Envision Festival in Costa Rica. Her classes, workshops and retreats are designed to take you on a tour of your Self, a tour to reconnect you to your own wisdom through your body’s expressions, your emotional responses and your mind’s dialogue between anxiety and true understanding. She uses the chakras as a framework to help individuals to facilitate change in their lives. Andrea and the Yoga & Earth Harp Experience are featured in Yoga Journal Italy, July/August 2012.
Onyay Pheori is a vocalist, violinist, recording and international performing artist. Onyay began a 7 Year Quest called 33 Muses in 2005 traveling to sacred sites opening up to the mysteries and frequencies beyond this world. At each site crowds gathered transfixed by her sound. Since 33 Muses’ inception, she has journeyed deep into the Amazonian Rainforest and ascended high into the Andes of Peru and Ecuador, explored the Mayan Ruins of Mexico and the Temples and Pyramids of Egypt as well as sacred and natural places in over 28 countries. Her process involves a receptivity and communication with the sounds and memories held in these places, translating them through her voice and violin as a sonic shape-shifter, becoming more human and more than human simultaneously.
Onyay has combined her years as a healer, shamanic guide and Kundalini Yoga Teacher with her professional music career to bring healing and transformational entertainment to audiences around the world. Her experimental lyrics and hypnotic melodies explore love, loss, longing, intimacy, freedom, illusion, consciousness, the peaks, the valleys and the journey of being human in a forever changing world.
Why I support GATE
I, Andrea Brook, attended the GATE event in February, 2012, and was blown away. From that day forward my purpose was clear. My work is transformational entertainment. I no longer create shows that simply wow audiences, I work to inspire audiences to believe in themselves and consciously live their true purpose.
I, Onyay Pheori, also attended the GATE event and sat in on violin with Peter Sterling in the lobby. The inspiration was endless with each speaker and artist sharing gems and revelations and the path to growing our capacity, as a community, to effectively empower the masses through transformational entertainment, became clearer.
“No work can be personally transformative unless it engages both the heart and the mind of the viewer. To be touched intellectually is to be affected; to be touched emotionally is to be moved. To be touched by both is to be raised to a new perception of being. That is the reason I write; that is the reason I speak.”
